A general survey of economic problems of agriculture

, : A general survey of economic problems of agriculture. XLVe Congres de la Federation des Cercles d' Archeologie et d' Histoire de Belgique, 28-31 VIII 1980, Actes I: 207-208

The paper briefly reviews economic problems faced by Belgian farmers. The basic problem is without any doubt that of farm income, which is always lower than the average wage. This situation is due to the combined effects of too low a rise in farm prices and increased input prices. Among the many efforts made by farmers to counteract the unfavourable effects of this situation, technical progress in both the biological and mechanical fields is noted.
