Part 1 deals with the global cereal situation during the 1966/67 crop year; Part 2 discusses 1990 projections for the production and consumption of major staple food crops in the developing market economy (DME) countries. Total cereal production in the world has increased from 845 mill t in 1960 to 1300 mill t in 1977. From 1975/76 to 1977/78 world production reached record levels, with the aggregate cereal output averaging 1285 mill t a year.
