A genetic study of stomates in cucumber, Cucumis sativus L. and its relationship with fruit wilting and brining quality

, : A genetic study of stomates in cucumber, Cucumis sativus L. and its relationship with fruit wilting and brining quality. Dissertation Abstracts International, B 39(7): 3141B

The inbred lines SC25 and TAMU1055, and the F1, F2 and BC generations of the cross between them, were studied. Stomatal number and size and epidermal cell number differed in the field and greenhouse. Stomatal size was apparently quantitatively controlled. Heritability estimates for stomatal number were 73 to 75%. Epidermal cell number exhibited partial dominance.
