The Karakol'sky Reservoir has an area of 13 000 ha and was brought into production as a fish-rearing reservoir in 1970. There were 60 plant species in the reservoir in 1976; 63% of the species were plants of moist and waterlogged habitats, 15% emergent plants, 16% submersed and 7% floating. Emergent plants comprised more than half the plant associations present.
