A geographical perspective on scale of farming in a developing economy

, : A geographical perspective on scale of farming in a developing economy. Caribbean Quarterly 26(3): 24-35

Two approaches to the problem of development are examined and evaluated, using the agricultural sector as the general background with particular attention on farm size, and its relevance to agricultural development. For the purposes of the paper, small farms refer to those whose areal extent and economic viability make it difficult to employ tractors and other machinery on a large scale, while large farms are those which permit the use of heavy machinery.
