A granulosis virus of the rice leaf roller Cnaphalocrocis medinalis Guenee

, : A granulosis virus of the rice leaf roller Cnaphalocrocis medinalis Guenee. Weishengwuxue Tongbao 8(3): 103-104

An epizootic of a granulosis virus occurred among larvae of Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Gn.) on a late rice crop in Enping County, Guangdong Province, China, in 1979. The infected larvae had yellow spots on the epidermis, moved sluggishly and grew only slowly. Mortality reached 30-40% at the end of the fifth instar. Examination under the electron microscope showed that the granular particles measured 0.32-0.42 X 0.18-0.32 mu m and contained virus particles measuring 0.28-0.32 X 0.056-0.062 mu m.
