A grassland-wood-catena in the Leutratal near Jena as a pedozoological research area, and its ground beetle fauna (Coleoptera, Carabidae)

, : A grassland-wood-catena in the Leutratal near Jena as a pedozoological research area, and its ground beetle fauna (Coleoptera, Carabidae). Abhandlungen und Berichte des Naturkundemuseums Gorlitz 53(2): 1-78

A catena of 11 plots including cut meadow on the lower slope, semidry grassland on the middle slope, shrub belt, dry grassland on the upper slope, and beech woodland on the north-facing slope was studied with particular reference to carabid populations. Epigaeic arthropod populations reflected the vegetation zones, but the saprophagous soil fauna was chiefly of the semidry grassland type throughout.
