A group of new maize mutants disturbed in early embryonic development

, : A group of new maize mutants disturbed in early embryonic development. Journal of Cell Biology 83(2, II): 202a

A total of 48 mutants, defective both in the endosperm and during early embryogenesis, were analysed. Genes conditioning 23 of the mutants were located on 11 of the 18 arms which can be tested. Several mutants appeared to be blocked at the proembryo stage, several at the transition stage and several at the coleoptile stage. About 12 of the mutants were capable of differentiating one leaf primordium or more, 36 were lethal and others were semilethal.
