A method is described for calculating the monetary value of alternative feeds for ruminants. The method eliminates the need for algebraic equations and provides a means of comparing the relative values of different feeds. The metabolizable energy and digestible crude protein of feeds are estimated relative to the price of barley as a source of energy and extracted soya bean oilmeal as a source of protein.
