In the first of 2 strawberry trials, dormant plants of 21 cvs were root-trimmed and planted under glass in multicelled plastic trays on 3 March. Plants of 2 cvs were also planted on 2 May. The night temperature was maintained at 62 deg and day temperatures did not fall below 70 deg F. Although some cvs such as Sequoia remained almost entirely vegetative for more than 5 weeks, at least 50% of the plants of many cvs were in bud or full flower by 3 weeks.
