A herbicide use system for muscatel sage crops

In 1976-79 experiments with herbicide combinations and sequences were carried out in muscatel sage on a calcareous southern chernozem soil. A 2-year cycle herbicide programme is advocated to eliminate residues in the essential oil and includes in the first year pre-em. application of Cotoran at 2 kg combined with the post-em. application at the 2- to 4-leaf stage of Nitrokhlor or Preforan 3 kg/ha or, at the rosette stage, of diuron 2 kg/ha.
