The new spring wheat Omskaya 9 is adapted to several regions of N. Kazakhstan and Siberia, combines high yields and quality of grain and is resistant to drought, lodging and stem rust In variety trails in 1976-8 at several locations in Omsk province, Omskaya 9 gave grain yields of 4.5-4.88 t/ha and outyielded the standard Saratovskaya 29 and Novosibirskaya 67 by 200-720 kg/ha.
