, : A histological study on congenital goiter in calves occurring collectively in Japan. National Institute of Animal Health Quarterly 20(3): 120-121

On a farm in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, in August to September 1979 there were 16 calves born, of which 6 were unable to feed and died in 1 to 3 days with enlarged thyroid. The cattle had been given too much bean curd refuse, daily 28 kg of it with wheat bran 1.5, pressed wheat 0.8, wild hay 4 or 5 and salt 0.3 kg. Histopathology of 2 of the affected calves is described.
