A history of greenhouses

, : A history of greenhouses. A history of greenhouses: 435

This large and scholarly compilation represents almost 50 years of research into the literature. Greenhouse development has been followed from its earliest form as a simple protective covering for plants to the sophisticated climate-controlled crop factory of the present day - in which an estimated 30 000 ha of the world's surface are covered by glasshouse and about 3 times this area is covered by plastic tunnels and other structures.

The phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) skin test response, used to assess cell-mediated immunity, is known to vary with many social and energetic factors, but the effects of age have received little attention. We found that the PHA response of immature bir...

CD26 (dipeptidyl peptidase IV, DPPIV) is a 110 kDa surface glycoprotein expressed in most normal tissues, and is a potential novel therapeutic target for selected cancers. Our work evaluates the mechanism involved in confluence-dependent CD26 expr...
