A justification of farm subsidies based on surplus accounts

, : A justification of farm subsidies based on surplus accounts. Economie Rurale (149): 57-61

Faced with an inexorable decline in farm incomes, farmers want the situation redressed, without being regarded as living on assistance. The contribution they demand from the state is only a compensation for excess tax payments by supply and marketing firms. The subsidies awarded, far from being charity, are simply a fair, highly deserved reward for highly productive performance. In spite of the recession, the technical and economic potential of agriculture remains high and inexhaustible.
