A laboratory method for assessing the resistance of lucerne to Ascochyta imperfecta

, : A laboratory method for assessing the resistance of lucerne to Ascochyta imperfecta. Biuletyn Instytutu Hodowli i Aklimatyzacji Roslin (142): 28

Seeds germinating on moistened filter paper are sprayed with a suspension of A. imperfecta spores in water and, ten days later, plants without leaf damage are transferred to pots and reinoculated after another eight days. After two more weeks in conditions which favour the pathogen, plants which still show no symptoms may be regarded provisionally as resistant. The procedure may be used in either mass or individual selection.
