A list of ectoparasites of Colombian bats

, : A list of ectoparasites of Colombian bats. Revista de Biologia Tropical 29(1): 11-20

Bats may harbour microorganisms and parasites capable of infecting man and domestic animals. In Colombia, since 1961, a large number of bats have been examined immediately after death and their ectoparasites recorded. Of the 3860 examples (in 109 species) examined, 1235 (in 100 species) were infested. Some 3545 ectoparasites (in 88 species) were recorded. They are listed alphabetically, together with an indication of their abundance and the bat species on which they were found.
