This short account of house-dust mites, based on literature, deals with the biotopes favoured by different species of mites (and particularly by Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Trt.) and D. farinae Hughes) in and around houses, aspects of the ecology and biology of members of the Pyroglyphidae and the problem of allergens in house-dust.
