Bhargava, S.K.; Kumari, S.; Choudhury, P.; Lall, U.B., 1980: A longitudinal study of physical growth from birth to six year in children with birth weight of 2501 g. or more. Indian Pediatrics 17(6): 495-502
The 220 normal infants born singly in New Delhi, India, with birthweight over 2500 g were studied to 6 years old. Boys generally had a "better growth pattern" than girls. Growth rate to 2 years old compared well with Western standards and with that of Indian children of high income groups, then declined. Heights and bodyweights were about the same as those of the general population, not comparable to those of the high-income children.
