A look at centered vs. offset sawing

, : A look at centered vs. offset sawing. USDA Forest Service Research Paper, Forest Products Laboratory, Madison (FPL 321): 17

Comparison was made between four sawing systems for softwood logs with centred patterns and three systems where the pattern could be offset from the log centre. Offset methods were found to give higher outturn. Outturn is affected by live as opposed to cant sawing and complex interactions of diam., length, taper and sawing method.
