A map of vegetation and land use in Sumatra

, : A map of vegetation and land use in Sumatra. Indonesia Circle (24): 29-37

The map of vegetation and land use in Sumatra highlights two sets of patterns which interact and affect each other. The first set is that of the patterns of natural vegetation. Until a few decades ago this set of patterns was only locally affected by human occupation practices. The second set of patterns results from increasing population pressures and economic resource development, including demands on Sumatra's vegetative resources.
