A model is presented for the interaction between two independent loci in barley and four independent loci in Erysiphe graminis. It is assumed that every allele for virulence will pair with every allele for disease reaction in the host. With a continuous generation pattern for the evolution of this host-pathogen system, it is shown that a set of coupled differential equations corresponds to the rate of change in the genetic frequencies in the system.
