A mathematical model for the price elasticity of marketed surplus of a food crop: a comment

, : A mathematical model for the price elasticity of marketed surplus of a food crop: a comment. Indian Journal of Agricultural Economics 35(3): 85-87

This note argued that the analysis contained in Pushpangadan's article (WAERSA 11, 5927) is incomplete. It draws attention to implicit assumptions underlying the price elasticity of distress surplus (eD) and the proportion of commercial surplus to total surplus (m1), which are both positive. Under the assumptions eD is greater than 0, m1 is greater than 0, the conditions derived for the aggregate price elasticity to be negative are not valid. In his reply (p.86-87) K.
