A method for collecting soil-pupating Rhyacionia pine tip moths

, : A method for collecting soil-pupating Rhyacionia pine tip moths. Research Note, Rocky Mountain Forest and Range Experiment Station, United States Department of Agriculture (RM-380): 4

A method that was developed in studies in Arizona for collecting the pupae of the forest pests Rhyacionia neomexicana (Dyar) and R. jenningsi Powell is described. Plastic foam cups filled with soil, each being fitted around the bole beneath an infested shoot, are used to collect the full-grown larvae descending the tree prior to pupation.
