A method for deep impregnation of posts while in use

, : A method for deep impregnation of posts while in use. Derevoobrabatyvayushchaya Promyshlennost' (5): 21-22

A simple method for treating posts in the absence of proper impregnation equipment is described. The lower part of the post (for at least 20-30 cm more than its depth in the ground) is enclosed in a polythene bag which is bound on to the post with twine to leave 10-15 cm free at the top. The post is then buried with the base or the whole polythene bag surfaced with roofing felt for further protection, and preserving fluid is introduced in stages to the required vol.
