A method for detecting infestation and estimating the population density of Globodera rostochiensis pathotype 1, in soil samples

, : A method for detecting infestation and estimating the population density of Globodera rostochiensis pathotype 1, in soil samples. Archiv fur Phytopathologie und Pflanzenschutz 16(6): 387-395

A method for assessing infestations of G. rostochiensis pathotype 1 was developed using 15 test potato plants growing in individual 7-cm clay pots containing field soil. The differential test varieties used in the biotest, Libelle and Xenia, are respectively susceptible and resistant to pathotype 1; both are susceptible to other pathotypes. After about 8 weeks at 12 to 22 deg C, the number of cysts on the root ball was determined.
