A method for determining social dominance among cattle

, : A method for determining social dominance among cattle. Zuchtungskunde 53(3): 189-195

The method evaluates social structure in a herd of cattle, taking into account triangular relationships (A>B, B>C, C>A) by using an arc-sin transformation on the observed relations of inferior animals to produce normally distributed variables amenable to statistical analyses. Dominance value is assessed on a scale from 90 (most superior) to 0 (most inferior).
