A method for digitizing inventory plot locations in the UTM coordinate system

, : A method for digitizing inventory plot locations in the UTM coordinate system. Resources Evaluation Newsletter (11): 1-3

The use is described of a FORTRAN computer program (QUADIG) for assigning UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) coordinates - widely accepted as the best geographical reference system - to forest inventory plot locations. To evaluate the process 364 plot locations in Michigan were transferred to 13 US Geological Survey quadrangle maps and then digitized using QUADIG.
