Data were obtained in Cornish X White Plymouth Rock broilers (numbers of birds were not given) in 2 series of experiments. Body weight at 8 wk of age averaged 1598 g in the 1st series and 1721 g in the 2nd, trimmed carcass weight 1110 and 1205 g resp., weight of edible parts 830 and 914 g, total muscle weight 570 and 633 g, breast muscle weight 182.3 and 204.9 g, and breast muscle cross-section area 24.06 and 26.76 cm2.
