A method for the assessment of the resistance of cereal breeding materials in the seedling stage and at maturity, by the use of artificial infection with spores of Puccinia recondita and P. graminis

, : A method for the assessment of the resistance of cereal breeding materials in the seedling stage and at maturity, by the use of artificial infection with spores of Puccinia recondita and P. graminis. Biuletyn Instytutu Hodowli i Aklimatyzacji Roslin (142): 19

A uredospore suspension is applied with a brush to the back of the leaf blades of seedlings at the two-leaved stage in the greenhouse. After 12 days, the seedlings are assessed for symptoms, the degree of resistance being expressed on a five-point scale.
