Young seedlings of tetraploid varieties were inoculated by placing on the leaves drops of an aqueous suspension which each contained about 20 individuals of Ditylenchus dipsaci. After 30 days at 20 deg C, several aspects of the response of the seedlings were assessed and on this basis resistant, susceptible and tolerant varieties were identified.
