, : A method for the separation of acetic, propionic, butyric and lactic acids from rumen fluid. Laboratory Practice 31(1): 23-24

The method of Leng and Leonard (NAR 36, 4516) for estimating volatile fatty acids and lactic acid in rumen fluid was modified by using peristaltic pumps to control accurately the concentration gradient of butanol in hexane through a column of silicic acid.
