A method of estimating the resistance of wheat varieties to a bacterial disease

, : A method of estimating the resistance of wheat varieties to a bacterial disease. Proceedings of the fifth international wheat genetics symposium February 23-28, 1978 Volume 2 Session X Genetical and biochemical approaches to pest resistance: 1102-1104

In studies of resistance to bacterial black chaff, caused by Xanthomonas translucens, at Winnipeg, results from tests on seedlings had little relation to field resistance. A satisfactory assessment of field resistance was made by inducing artificial epiphytotics in replicated plots of a large number of varieties in successive years.
