A method to estimate the disease incidence based on the height of the infected parts in rice sheath blight disease

, : A method to estimate the disease incidence based on the height of the infected parts in rice sheath blight disease. Annals of the Phytopathological Society of Japan 47(2): 194-198

A total of 1429 foreign and 277 domestic cvs. were tested for the height of the uppermost parts infected by Rhizoctonia solani, the percentage of this height related to that of the whole plant and the degree of disease incidence estimated by Yoshimura's method. The cvs. were inoculated on 15 July and assessed during 1-6 Sept., 1976. Vertical disease development was always more extensive in early maturing cvs.
