A study on the separation of X- and Y-spermatozoa in livestock

, : A study on the separation of X- and Y-spermatozoa in livestock. Korean Journal of Animal Reproduction 3(1): 41-47

X- and Y-bearing spermatozoa from cattle and pigs were distinguished by means of fluorescent staining. The av. percentage of Y-bearing spermatozoa was 43.3 plus or minus 1.3% in bull semen and 45.5 plus or minus 0.7% in boar semen. Separation of X- and Y-bearing spermatozoa using diluents with different pH was unsuccessful.
