Anthropology and agricultural research: the case of potato anthropology

, : Anthropology and agricultural research: the case of potato anthropology. Studies in Third World Societies (7): 95-106

The paper discusses the need for applying anthropological methods and knowledge to agricultural research. Some of the reasons for the lack of anthropological input to such research are discussed in terms of the institutional separation of agricultural and social scientists and the scepticism of agricultural scientists. Two activities which combine anthropology with agricultural research are discussed in terms of work at the Centro Internacional de la Papa.
