Anti-rosetting effectiveness of zinc fertilizers in bearing apple orchards in the Zaporozhe region

, : Anti-rosetting effectiveness of zinc fertilizers in bearing apple orchards in the Zaporozhe region. Izvestiya Timiryazevskoi Sel' skokhozyaistvennoi Akademii (1): 100-106

Four year trials were carried out with rosette-affected trees of the apple cvs White Rosemary, Jonathan and Renet Simirenko sprayed with 4, 8 or 12% Zn before bud burst except in one instance when 12% Zn was applied after leaf fall. The occurrence of rosetting in the trees was attributed to high levels of available P in the soil and a low level of available Zn. Leaves of rosette-affected trees contained >0.3% P and <20 mg Zn/kg dry matter.
