Cultural control of red rice

, : Cultural control of red rice. USA, Texas A and M University Agricultural Research and Extension Center, Beaumont: Red rice [Oryza sativa]: research and control: [Proceedings of a Symposium, December, 1978]: 10-15

Two types of red rice (Oryza sativa) are distinguished, the strawhull type with open habit and few tillers maturing in 120-130 days and the blackhull type with dense, compact habit maturing a little later. Continuous flooding gives good control and pinpoint flooding gives intermediate control. In pasture/rice rotations, 2 mowings to a height of 3 inches at an interval of 28 days has reduced infestation to 1.2 lb live seed/acre.
