Cultural practices for short-statured soybeans

, : Cultural practices for short-statured soybeans. Illinois Research 23(1): 6-7

In field trials at Urbana and Brownstown in 1977-9, the determinate soyabean (a) Gnome and (b) Elf and the indeterminate (c) Beeson and (d) Williams were sown on 5 days from May to July at row widths of 32, 20 or 8 in. Av. seed yields were (a) 48.2 and 28.5, (b) 46.1 and 28.5 (c) 46.5 and 20 and (d) 44.1 and 29.8 bu/ac at Urbana and Brownstown, resp. The 32 in. row spacing gave lower yields than the closer spacings which did not differ from each other in yield.
