Dynamics of scopolamine and atropine accumulation in diploid and tetraploid plants of Datura innoxia Mill. during the growth period

, : Dynamics of scopolamine and atropine accumulation in diploid and tetraploid plants of Datura innoxia Mill. during the growth period. Genetika i Selektsiya 13(4): 307-311

At all stages of development, the tetraploids contained appreciably more alkaloids than their diploid counterparts. The rate of accumulation of scopolamine and atropine was higher in the tetraploids. The amount of alkaloids obtained was higher with a single harvest (15-30 September) than with a double harvest (15 August and 30 October) owing to a higher yield of top growth.
