Ecological aspects of the epidemiology of Salmonella infection in central Kazakhstan

, : Ecological aspects of the epidemiology of Salmonella infection in central Kazakhstan. Voprosy Prirodnoi Ochagovosti Boleznei 12: 56-68

Studies were carried out over several years on the ecological aspects of the epidemiology of Salmonella infections in central Kazakhstan, USSR. Experiments in which rabbits and white mice were infected with S. typhimurium showed that the pathogen was transmitted by ticks of the species Dermacentor marginatus (Sulz.), D. pictus (Herm.) and D. daghestanicus Olen. during their metamorphosis. The virulence of the pathogen was observed to change during its life-cycle.
