In 2 villages on Illha do Governador, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the people were treated with pyrantel pamoate and thiabendazole twice at an interval of 10 months to remove most of their worms. One area was planted out with Cymbopogon citratus which has a natural inhibitory activity against free-living helminth larvae.
