Enzymatic secretion of the salivary and midgut glands of the stingless bee Apotrigona nebulata

, : Enzymatic secretion of the salivary and midgut glands of the stingless bee Apotrigona nebulata. Annales de Sciences Naturelles, Zoologie 1(4): 261-267

The enzymes present in the mandibular, hypopharyngeal and labial gland secretions of this bee, which was collected in the Central African Republic, are compared with those reported for the corresponding Apis mellifera secretions The patterns are not identical, suggesting that the roles of the glands in these species may have evolved rather differently. There were also differences between the two species in the enzymes secreted by the tissues of the midgut.
