Epidemiology and simulation of population development of Sitobion avenae in winter wheat

, : Epidemiology and simulation of population development of Sitobion avenae in winter wheat. Netherlands Journal of Plant Pathology 85(5): 197-220

The pattern of infestation by Sitobion avenae (F.) and its natural enemies in winter wheat was studied in the Netherlands in 1975-77. Immigration was important until the end of flowering. The alate immigrants produced apterous progeny that became the driving force for population growth. Later progeny were mostly alates, which usually left the wheat field. A model of the infestation was developed.
