Estimating field populations of tobacco budworm moths from pheromone trap catches

, : Estimating field populations of tobacco budworm moths from pheromone trap catches. Environmental Entomology, 106: 908-914

A method is presented for estimating the relative density of field populations of Heliothis virescens (F.) from pheromone trap catches. In tests in Texas, pheromone traps were found to be sensitive to low densities of H. virescens males. Early-season catches from these traps can be used to estimate field populations.
