Fluorine in phosphogypsum and reclamation of sodic soils

, : Fluorine in phosphogypsum and reclamation of sodic soils. Fertiliser News 25(4): 18-23

A linear increase was observed in the content of water extractable fluorine in sodic soils with increasing ESP and pH in 25 samples of surface soils treated with a range of gypsum levels. Immobilisation of added F in soils incubated with 100 or 200 mg F/kg decreased with increasing ESP. In pot experiments F applications of up to 200 mg/kg soil reduced grain yields of rice and wheat. F uptake by rice and wheat straw increased with increasing F applications, especially at higher ESP.
