Fungi of the genus Pythium as agents of sugar beet damping-off

, : Fungi of the genus Pythium as agents of sugar beet damping-off. Archiv fur Phytopathologie und Pflanzenschutz 16(2): 95-102

Damping-off fungi were isolated from seedlings, plants at the 2nd leaf pair stage, and lateral roots of growing plants. P. ultimum was the most important pathogen, but P. elongatum and P. paroecandrum, hitherto unknown on beet, were also found. The agar plate method for testing the pathogenicity of isolates gave a rapid preliminary estimation, in 2-3 days.
