Inheritance of tolerance for aluminum toxicity in Brazilian rice Oryza sativa L

, : Inheritance of tolerance for aluminum toxicity in Brazilian rice Oryza sativa L. International Rice Research Newsletter 6(4): 9

Four Brazilian upland varieties and their F1 and F2progenies from a diallel cross were evaluated in nutrient solutions containing 0, 30 and 60 p.p.m. Al. Pratao and IAC25 were more tolerant of Al toxicity than Perola and Bico Ganga. Compared with Perola, Pratao had 2% shorter stems, 10% shorter roots and 49% less dry weight in the absence of Al but 23% longer stems, 15% longer roots and 19% more dry weight in the presence of 60 p.p.m. Al.
