Investigations concerning the adaptation of tomatoes to low temperatures

, : Investigations concerning the adaptation of tomatoes to low temperatures. Lucrari Stiintifice, Institutul Agronomic "N Balcescu," Horticultura 24: 25-32

Lines from various crosses between susceptible varieties and the cold-resistant Sub Arctic Delight were tested in four ways. The most effective methods were an in vitro pollen germination test in a sucrose + boric acid solution, after six or eight days' exposure to low temperature, and a statistical procedure for assessing fruit set in the first inflorescence.
