Erwinia carotovora vars. atroseptica and carotovora were proved to be the causal organisms of stalk rot during storage. In an inoculation trial with six varieties, Langedijker Winter-Starkwinter was the least susceptible, followed by Hidena and Marner Dauerweiss.
